Newsflash

Latest News:  Photo opportunities for 2010 include visiting Italy and France. In Italy we will visit the region of Tuscany (Florence, Siena, and small villages), Venice, Cinque Terra, and Rome.

Recent Markets and Gallery News: We presently have some of our best work on display and for sale at the Marcel & Florette's Curious Menagerie Gallery located at 351 West Pierpont Avenue in Salt Lake City. Please stop by afternoons 12-5pm Mon thru Sat. There are many items for sale by local talent. The Old World Christmas Market held Nov 21-29 at the Gateway was a big success for us and we appreciate those who visited us. I hope the SL Downtown Alliance continues to hold this market every year. I really believe it will draw more and more people each year with the tradition of an Old World Christmas Market. The annual Holladay City Art Show ended Oct 27 and we want to thank all those who visited us at this show. We were so excited that we won the People's Choice Award with cash prize at this show. We also want to thank all those who visited our art booth at the SL Downtown Alliance Art and Craft Market this past summer. It turned out to be very rewarding for us.

Recent Travel News: We returned from our trip to Europe and the Middle East this past October. This was a trip we will never forget. We stayed over night on the Waterloo Battlefield; visited the quaint canal city of Brugge; went to the charming windmill village of Damme in Belgium; visited many historic sites in Jordan such as Petra, Jerash, Madaba, Lot's Cave, and Mt. Nebo; and visited Jerusalem and northern Israel which included Akko, the Dead Sea, Caesarea, and the Sea of Galilee. Please see our trip photos under the gallery section titled Belgrium, Jordan, and Israel.

Creative plans this year include experimenting with printing larger photographs on specialty papers, clear sealing the photograph or oil rubbing the photo so no glass is required (or you can use glass), faux finishing the mat in stone or luster stone, and painting the frame to compliment the photograph and mat. We believe the results have turned out great.

PHOTO ART BY JO ANN AND ALLAN MERRILL
Written by Jo Ann & Allan Merrill

We use the latest development and technique in digital cameras, printers, scanners, and specialty papers. Some of our work has been enhanced by using medium gels and the use of our own art work (watercolors and sketches) that are scanned in and overlaid on the photographs.

Water MillWe also replicate/restore faded and torn historical photographs. We can replicate paintings to look like the originals (with written permission by the artist). This procedure works especially well with watercolor paintings because the painting is replicated using the same size and watercolor paper the artist used for his or her masterpiece. It is almost impossible to tell which is the original and which is the reproduction.

Our travels throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East have brought some unusual and splendid photograph opportunities.

Our photo artwork has been accepted and displayed at the following locations in Utah and other locations.
